The week of September 9th we will begin to core aerify our fairways and approaches. This process could take us a couple of weeks to complete depending on the weather and our tournament schedule. We aim to core aerify 2-3 fairways a day. Once the fairway is cored, the cores will be dragged with a steel matt to separate the thatch/organic matter from the soil. The remains will then be blown into a windrow and swept up. This process is integral to our thatch management program. Cultural practices like core aeration, verticutting and solid tine aerifying ensure that our fairways perform through the golf season.
The goal of this blog is to inform, educate and update the members of Highland CC of any Turfgrass related issues.
