This week we will be starting our Deep Tine Greens Aerification. The process is to heavily topdress the green prior to the deep tine procedure. This practice allows the machine to knock in a portion of sand deep into the profile. Following the deep tine we will brush the remaining sand in with our cart brush and finally by hand to ensure any extra sand is off the surface. This time around we will be going down 8" deep with 5 degrees of kick for a shatter effect in the soil. These deep channels not only help with root growth and soil modification, but the channels also help to eliminate any standing water on the greens over the course of the winter.
The goal of this blog is to inform, educate and update the members of Highland CC of any Turfgrass related issues.
